Kensington is undergoing an exciting transformation, reshaping this iconic eastern Sydney suburb into a vibrant, connected, and sustainable destination.

The Kensington to Kingsford (K2K) Plan is coming to life as the Anzac Parade corridor undergoes a major transformation, with cranes in motion and construction well under way.

The K2K Plan is set to bring enhanced bus services, new cycleways, and improved pedestrian infrastructure along Anzac Parade, making Kensington one of the most well-connected suburbs in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.

Additional green spaces and new public parks will also make Kensington an attractive place to live, work, and visit, accommodating future growth and creating an elevated urban experience, whilst also stimulating local economic activity, making the area a desirable option for both residents and investors.

Several key sites along the corridor are already under development by prominent companies such as Toga Group, Scape, and Unilodge. These projects, which include a mix of new retail, student accommodation, commercial, residential, and community spaces, are just the beginning, with more expected as the area transforms.

Property developer Toga has established itself as an early mover in emerging markets and is now turning its focus to the eastern suburbs, with ‘The Kensington’, a mixed-use residential development set to bring change to this historic area.

Toga’s development in Kensington builds on its proven track record of success in Marrickville and Surry Hills, where it has created thriving communities and sought-after living spaces. In Kensington, Toga is continuing to deliver a mix of residential and commercial spaces that will cater to the diverse needs of the growing population, enhancing the area’s appeal and cementing Kensington as a key hub within Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Kensington has the trifecta of access to transport, higher-education and places of work. Positioned in the last enclave of Sydney’s eastern suburbs, and with its proximity to the University of New South Wales, state-of-the-art health precinct, and Centennial Park, the Kensington precinct is highly sought after by students, professionals, and young families.

The suburb’s location, just 5km from the CBD and close to major transport hubs, makes it an ideal choice for those seeking convenience, lifestyle, and connectivity.

Scape, a leader in student accommodation, is also investing in Kensington with three developments of new, purpose-built living spaces that will serve the increasing number of students attending UNSW and nearby colleges.

Its project will provide high-quality, student housing, adding to the area’s vibrancy and further reinforcing Kensington as a centre for education and innovation.

Both projects promise to inject a new energy into Kensington, offering a mix of residential, retail, and leisure spaces that will activate Anzac Parade and support the surrounding community.

Toga’s residential and retail offering are due for completion early 2026.
